Weekly Update - A drippy Halloween!

11/2/2015

Weekly update time!

Did everyone survive the Halloween downpour? What unfortunate timing for an autumn storm. Clear winners were kids dressed as mermaids, sharks, and garbage bags. By the end of the night the rest of us all had the same costume, Things Found Washed Up On The Beach. I hope that everyone had a good time, regardless!
Moonlight Madness is happening again this year! Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 3rd, from 12 to 8pm. It will be a day of holiday spirit and friendly local shopping. If you have a business and would like to participate, contact me or Leslie McLain at the Reedsport Pharmacy. If you don't have a business but want to support your neighbors who do, show it with your feet! Each door that you walk through is a way of saying that you want Reedsport to have a strong, vibrant economy. Let’s pull together for Moonlight Madness and see if we can really wow our local vendors.
Here are a few more dates for the calendar: The next Main Street Promotions Committee meeting is Tuesday, November 10th, 5pm at the Waterfront Restaurant. The next Economic Development Committee meeting is Thursday, November 12th, 5:30pm in the conference room in City Hall. As always, everyone is welcome to come.
Do you ever look around town and notice neglected areas that could use a little extra love and care? If so, you can make a difference! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 11th, Veteran's Day. That's the day we'll be hosting a special RMSP volunteer cleanup project. We’ll meet at 10:30am in the Chamber of Commerce/ODNRA Visitor’s Center parking lot, rain or shine, to clean up some landscaping along the highway. At noon we’ll break for a group BBQ lunch (provided by us!) Please bring your own gloves, hand tools, and sense of humor. Whether it’s for an hour, for all day, or just swinging by to say hello, come help us honor our veterans by making their community look great!
Speaking of volunteering, I recently heard this quote: "Work for a cause, not for applause. Live to express, not to impress." I still applaud those who takes the time to volunteer for the sake of our community, whether you work behind the scenes, share your ideas at a meeting, organize events, or anything else. Remember that the RMSP exists only because you are willing to volunteer. Thank you for donating your time and your effort!
