Our Reedsport Main Street Program projects are moving right along. The last few banners for the Banner Project are being printed, and the next step will be to hang them. Should we position them over the sidewalk, where we are allowed to hang them lower, or over the road but higher? A representative from Williams/Pacific Connector, one of our banner sponsors, came to take a few photos of our progress, and while he was visiting got to hear from George over at A&G Imports about how business has been and how our banners are helping to brighten the town. Thanks to George for taking the time to show how our program is improving the community!
Our first artistic bike rack has been completed and more are on the way. Have you seen the new Bike Friendly Business signs appearing around town? Façade improvement work continues at a good clip too, with deadlines for our first round still about two months away. Take at a look at our website to see some before and after pictures of the façade work that has already been done. We’re exploring interesting possibilities for our Steam Donkey Project, but in the meantime check out the 1994 video of the donkey’s rescue from the forest on our Projects page.
At the Board of Directors meeting last week we revisited the mission statement of the RMSP. Can we improve the structure, clarity, and focus of our program? A year ago people representing many parts of our community came together to talk about what makes our town special, where we are right now, and where we would like to go. As we take the RMSP forward into its second year, let’s continue to ground ourselves in these ideals. What is your Reedsport of the future? What projects shall we tackle next? Let us hear from you!
